The Best Guide to Knowing The 2 Types of LVT Flooring

Vinyl Tiles Flooring first appeared in the late 1970s with the introduction of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), offering a durable and affordable alternative to natural materials. In the early 2000s, thanks to material breakthrough and advancements in click-lock flooring systems, Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) with Click were developed, its High Water Resistance property has advantage over the Laminate Flooring in some wetter areas, like kitchens and restaurants.

At EraFlor, we specialize in two distinct LVT systems, LVT Click and LVT Dryback, each serving different applications.

In this guide, we will walk you through the applications of each product, performance benefits, the manufacturing technology that ensures durability and the practicalities of installation.

LVT Types

EraFlor’s LVT Dryback

Best for: Commercial areas, large display spaces, and seamless designs.

LVT Dryback panels are installed using glue-down method, where planks adhere directly to the subfloor. EraFlor LVT Dryback features a total thickness of 3mm with a 0.3mm wear layer.

Advantages of Dryback:

1. It is easily replaceable, just replace the panel that is scratched or damaged.
2. No click-lock mechanism is needed, so there is no need to create expansion breaks every 10 meters. You can cover your entire display area with Dryback panels, creating a seamless and uniform display without interruption.
3. There are no concerns of click-lock joints loosening, or breaking, due to high foot traffic.
4. LVT Dryback is also a refined alternative to tiles. LVT combines easier installation with superior water resistance and minimal joint lines, creating a smooth and seamless flooring surface.

As Dryback flooring is glued directly to the subfloor, removal can be labor-intensive and may damage the original surface. For rental properties or spaces that must be returned to their original condition, LVT Click provides a more flexible flooring option.

EraFlor’s LVT Click

Best for: Residential homes, rental properties, and flexible spaces.

EraFlor LVT Click flooring is reinforced with fiberglass mesh for enhanced dimensional stability. With a total thickness of 5mm and a 0.5mm wear layer.

Advantages of Click:

1. EraFlor LVT Click offers a premium balance of dimensional stability and flexibility.
2. Reduced risk of brittleness (unlike SPC) from a balanced construction that protects the click joints from stress.
3. The fiberglass mesh allows an enhanced stability that is ideal for floating floor systems, without permanent bonding during installation.
4. Click allows easier installation and dismantling, allowing floor modifications without permanent alteration that might violate.

Installation

LVT Flooring is one of the easiest flooring to be installed. All you need is a pencil, an angle ruler, and a cutter, that’s it. That means faster installation times and less disruption to your project schedule. No jigsaws. No noise. No delays.

EraFlor LVT’s Strengths

Material — Superior Water Resistance

Engineered with advanced PVC Composition, LVT delivers exceptional resistance to environments with liquids and moisture, such as kitchen and restaurants.

Flexibility — Uneven floor adaptation.

The flexibility of LVT stems from its high-grade PVC core, making it a master of uneven subfloors that masks minor irregularities often found in heritage or commercial properties.

Soft Material — Noise Reduction

The PVC layer of LVT creates a more comfortable underfoot and reduces impact stress, muffling footsteps by sound absorption due to its soft core.

Manufacturing

Dimension Stability — High-Pressure Press Technology

In LVT production, there are two main techniques: Rotary-Press Technique, and High-Pressure Press Technology. Rotary-Press involves materials being compressed through rolling compression systems, whereas High-Pressure Press involves compression of materials under high-heat and pressure.

In comparison of these two techniques, Rotary-Press may result in lower stability and increased risk of shrinkage, and EraFlor chooses the High-Pressure Pres method, due its reduced risk of joint gaps, a counter to plank shrinkage, and an improved long-term installation performance.

Certifications

EraFlor’s LVT also follows International Standards, to ensure strict standards are met to provide the best for clients and the environment.

  • FloorScore Certification verifies that the LVT meets air quality standards for low VOC emissions for homes, offices, and buildings.

  • A+ Indoor Air Rating indicates that the LVT has very low emission levels of VOC and Formaldehyde in indoor environments.

Conclusion

LVT flooring’s flexible characteristics allows the installation to conform to many different subfloor conditions, as the materials in LVT allows installers and clients have a peace of mind without needing to worry about potential chemical hazards to VOC emissions, keeping the environment safe. to have a more reliable and technically advanced flooring solution that is verified by various recognized standards.
